William Harlan "Junior" Howard's Obituary
William Harlan 'Junior' Howard, 89, of Moulton passed away Sunday morning, February 22, 2009, at the Golden Age Manor in Centerville. He was born the son of William Harlan and Olive Mae (Ryan) Howard on March 24, 1919 in Moulton, Iowa. He graduated from the Moulton Community Schools in 1938.On December 25, 1939, Junior was united in marriage to Leona Pauline Bradbury in Coatesville, Missouri. Before retirement, Junior operated the Howard Fur & Wool Company for over 40 years which was founded by his father, William Harlan, in 1918. During his years in business, he was active in the Moulton Chamber of Commerce and served a term as Mayor of Moulton and Moulton Public School Board.He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Leona Pauline Bradbury Howard on May 29, 1989; brothers, Laverne Howard, Marvin Howard, Francis Howard and Ermon Howard; and sisters, Florence Kirby, Olaf Osborne.Junior is survived by: a daughter, Wilma Mae Stevenson and her husband, Orval of Moulton, Iowa; a son, Gary Lee Howard and his wife, Janie (Daniels) Howard of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Vicki Stevenson Withrow of Moulton, Iowa, Craig Stevenson of Topeka, Kansas, Erica Stevenson McGill of Knoxville, Iowa and Heather Howard Renfro of Birmingham, Alabama; six great grandchildren; one, step-great grandchild and one step great, great grandchild; a sister, Maxine Brunsmann of Winterset, Iowa; and a brother, Laurence Howard and is wife, Donna of Forrest City, Missouri.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 1 pm at the Moulton United Methodist Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. The casket will remain closed at the church. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 4 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Moulton United Methodist Church and left at the funeral home.
