My husband, Mark Nessen, and I had many fond and fun memories with Bill and Connie....and then Bill himself. One of the most memorable was attending a movie convention to preview movie releases for the next year.... in Las Vegas. During that event, Bill was "star struck" as he happened to ride in the elevator with Jane Fonda. He declared, with a wide smile, that he could not ever wash the hand that shook hers.
His lifelong example of volunteerism inspired everyone -Corydon will miss him!
You were such a huge part of our family. We will always cherish that time together.
I will miss ol Bill. He was a favorite for sure. Our Hawkeye/Iowa State rivalry was so much fun. My kids have memories of us rolling down the windows, driving by his flower bed and all of us yelling "Go Hawks" as loud as we could EVERY time we saw him working there. He was a great friend to my Mom when they both lived at Murphy Place. The Hawkeye flag was draped on his room door (or red and yellow streamers on her door) during football season. He was the BEST promoter of Corydon and was so fun to be around. I will miss his ornery grin.
We loved Bill and his late wife Connie so much. Our deepest Condolences to his family.
We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Corydon
