William 'Ted' Theodore Dell's Obituary
William Theodore "Ted" Dell, age 64, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019.
Ted was born on January 18, 1955 in Exeter, Missouri. He graduated high school with the Class of 1973. On July 5, 1975, he was united in marriage to Debbie Cossolotto at the First Baptist Church in Centerville. To this union, three children were born, Justin, Patricia, and Rodney.
Ted held many jobs throughout his lifetime. His first job after he got married was at McGraw-Edison. He then worked for some time at Cossolotto Ready Mix as a cement/rock truck driver. He also worked for Wendell Thomas for a brief period of time. Ted worked for Spilman Auto Parts Inc. for several years, before going to work at Barkers in Centerville. Most recently, Ted was a custodian at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, where he was a member for many years. His favorite job, which he held his entire life, was as a Handy Man. Ted loved being a Handy Man, and would work it as a side job, any chance he had. He was an amazing craftsman, with woodworking being his best trait.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and guns. Most importantly, he cherished every moment he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to honor Teds memory are his wife of 44 years, Debbie Dell; his children, Rodney (Kristin) Dell, Justin (Jill) Dell, Patricia (Shane) Babbitt; a brother, Jim (Linda) Dell; six step siblings, Donna (Joseph) Goodnight, Margaret (Mark) Stevens, Robert (Shelli) Pendergraft, Sandra Wethey, Verla (Danny) Rinehart, and Kenny Pendergraft; thirteen grandchildren, Austin, Reagan, Keegan, Makenna, Creighton, Blakely, Camden, Caden, Noah, Gabrielle, Alisha, Jamie, Danielle, Jocelyn, and Jazmyn; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as an honorary daughter, Angela (Chad) Guffey, and their children, Caitlyn, Houston, and Brooklyn.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Ellen (Cole) Pendergraft and Lawrence Pendergraft; his grandmother, Rosa Cole; two brothers, Fred Dell and Linis Dell; two step sisters, Cindy Frasier and Carol Stewart; and a grandchild, Jacqueline Dell.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. A visitation will take place, Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Memorials may be made in Ted Dells name, to be determined at a later date, and may be dropped off or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
