William "Bill" Darrah's Obituary
William "Bill" Earl Darrah, 82 of Corydon, passed away on August 15, 2019 at Corydon Specialty Care. Bill was born to Carl and Margaret (Kinser) Darrah on July 8, 1937 in Corydon. He grew up in Corydon, graduating from Corydon High School in 1955. On January 20, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Ola "Jan" Etta Smith. To this union, 2 children were born: a daughter Penny and a son Carl. Bill moved to Aurora, IL upon graduation. Jan joined him in 1957. They lived in Aurora until 1971. At which time they moved back to Corydon. They were members of First Baptist Church in Corydon. When they first moved back Bill worked for Jones Dairy. He also worked for Shivvers for 6 years. Bill joined ISU Utility in 1978 as district serviceman and worked there until retirement. He enjoyed playing card games, especially SkipBo and Solitaire, attending Old Settlers, going to the local coffeeshop, and woodworking. Survivors include his daughter Penny (Bob) Runberg Cumberland, WI, son Carl Darrah (friend Lavon Lavely) Albia, IA; Grandchildren Joshua (Theresa) McBroom Oakdale MN; Riley Darrah Ames, IA; Madison Darrah Albia IA; Christopher Runberg Apple River, IL; Travis Runberg Cumberland, WI; Brady Tennis Ottumwa, IA; Jordan Tennis Ankeny, IA; Great grandchildren Grace & Carter McBroom. Sisters Nancy Martinez and Darla (Raymond) Nickell, brothers Paul (Edie) Darrah and Ron (Connie) Darrah, and numerous extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jan, and brother, Jerry Darrah. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Corydon with Pastor Daniel Palmer officiating. Interment will be at the Corydon Cemetery following services. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon.
