William "Bill" Bostwick's Obituary
William "Bill" Bostwick, 93, of Numa passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Bill was born to John & Addie Mae (Wilt) Bostwick in Clarence, Missouri on March 20, 1923. He received his education from Argyle High School, graduating in 1941. On November 18, 1945, Bill was united in marriage to Mary Knight in Ft. Madison. To this union came three children: Sheila, William Jr. and Stan. Bill and Mary moved to the area in 1950 where he would buy a farm and make it his lifelong occupation. Bill enjoyed going to auctions, church choir, carpentry, gardening and just tinkering in the shop. He loved to camp at the Iowa State Fair. In his younger years he was a horseman attending saddle club and horse shows with his family. Bill was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, a Mason for 64 years, a member of Commandery and Council, the Grand Commandery Drill team, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and was a pink elephant in the Centerville Shrine Club. He served on various boards and committees in the county. Survivors include his wife, Mary Bostwick of Numa, three children: Sheila Johnston (Kenny) of Seymour, William "Bud" Bostwick Jr. of Seymour, Stan Bostwick (Teresa) of Numa, four grandchildren; Dana Marten (Jay) of Denison, Iowa, Greg Johnston (Jenny) of Louisville, KY, Jeff Johnston (Lisa) of Promise City, Melanie Bostwick of Antioch, California, nine great grandchildren; Jackson and Kennedy of Denison, Elliot and Siggy of Louisville, KY, Jantz, Kinzey, Nadia, and Nick of Promise City, Cheyenne of Centerville, sisters; Hazel Hawes of Argyle, Iowa and Jeanne Kisor of Keokuk, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Vincent Wayne Bostwick and two sisters; Irma Jewel and Mary Eveyln Bostwick. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery at a later date.
