Wilbur E. Fenton's Obituary
Wilbur E. Fenton, age 91, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Edward and Bessie (Willett) Fenton on March 31, 1915 near Plano, Iowa. He graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in 1933, and later attended Centerville Jr. College and Iowa State Teacher College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and received a teaching Degree.Wilbur taught three years before joining his father and brother on the farm north of Plano. He farmed with his brother until they both retired in 1992 and moved into Centerville. He was a member of the Chariton River Baptist Church (Brushy) and attended regularly as long as services were held. He was a great reader and had a large collection of books, but the Bible remained his favorite book. He was a very dedicated person to his family, having taken care of his aged parents and a brother for many years.He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Alva Fenton on June 15, 1999; sister, Floy Hensley in August of 2005; two brother-in-laws and a great niece.Wilbur is survived by: his sister, Beulah Mikels of Centerville, Iowa; two nieces, Jane Hobart and her husband, Bob of Canton, Illinois, and Jean Downing and her husband, Jack of Bemidji, Minnesota; a nephew, Robert Hensley and his wife, Marie of Yarnell, Arizona; Nell Hensley of Chariton, Iowa (wife of deceased nephew, Richard Hensley); great niece, Wendy Noland and her husband, John of Wellman, Iowa; and a great nephew, Stephen Hobart and his wife, Jill and their son, Kale of Mason City, Iowa.Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Brushy Cemetery north of Plano, Iowa with Rev. Joan White officiating. Burial will follow in the Brushy Cemetery.
