Wessie Elizabeth Woodruff, daughter of John Dewey and Fern (Sayers) Canfield was born in Wayne County, Iowa on July 30, 1921, and passed away at her home near Allerton on April 8, 2012, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 9 days. On February 14, 1951 she was united in marriage to Billy Gerald Woodruff. Two children were born of this union, Roger Wayne and Sue Ann. Bill preceded her in death on March 9, 2005. Wessie taught at a country school in Wayne County and was a school cook at the Wayne Community School until her retirement. She was a farmer's wife and enjoyed working in her garden. In her leisure time Wessie enjoyed reading and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they visited her. Her parents Dewey and Fern Canfield, mother and father-in-law Roland and Beulah Woodruff and her husband Bill preceded her in death. Wessie is survived by her children Roger Woodruff of Allerton and Sue Ann Davison and husband Randall of Kenyon, Minnesota, grandchildren Michael Davison and wife Aimee of Northfield, Minnesota, Lori Anderson and husband Jesse of Lakeland, Minnesota, and Christopher Davison and friend Kayla Cusey of Kenyon, Minnesota and two great grandchildren Logan Davison and Camryn Anderson. Other survivors include her sisters Sylvia Everman of Ottumwa and Betty Ewing of Fort Dodge, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
