Wendell F. Pick's Obituary
Wendell Fayette Pick, age 98, of Centerville, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord on, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Fayette Albert and Mabel Trenna (Bailey) Pick on July 17, 1912 near Sargent, Minnesota. He attended a Minnesota Rural Country School.Wendell moved to the Cincinnati, Iowa area in 1948, and began farming a Dairy Farm. On November 25, 1937, He was united in marriage to Anna Gertrude Pick in Kirksville, Missouri. He farmed for over 53 years and moved to Centerville, Iowa in 2001. Wendell drove a Caterpillar for the Iowa Soil Conservation Office for 6 years. He as a Lifetime member of Iowa Farm Bureau, Member of Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville.He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Jerry Pick on November 26, 1999, wife, Anna Gertrude Pick on May 1, 2009; brothers, Clarence Pick and Geroge Pick; and a sister, Marjorie WeilandWendell is survived by: his sons, Robert and his wife, Sandra Pick of Centerville, Iowa, Warren and his wife, Nancy Pick of Sulley, Iowa, Allen and his wife, Kathy Pick of Union Grove, Wisconsin; daughters, Charlotte and her husband, Bill Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Trenna and her husband, Bill Brown of Chariton, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Barbara Pick of Centerville, Iowa; a brother, Ray Pick of Elgin, Minnesota and a sister, Opal Heydt of Waltham, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Brian Hargrave officiating. Burial will follow at the Livingston Cemetery southwest of Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville or Shepard's Home and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
