Wayne E. Thompson's Obituary
Wayne Eugene Thompson, age 83, of Centerville, Iowa, and formally of Davenport, Iowa, died, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of Thomas and Bertha (Traxler) Thompson on February 24, 1927 in Centerville, Iowa. He attended Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa.He was united in marriage to Dolly Edwards and after her passing he was united in marriage to Beulah Stufflebeem on October 3, 1994 in Davenport, Iowa. Wayne served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the US government on February 28, 1987 as a heat treater at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. Wayne is preceded in death by: his parents; first wife, Dolly Thompson; son David Thompson; and a brother Rex Thompson.He is survived by: his wife, Beulah Thompson of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Jim Edwards of Des Moines, Iowa and Theresa and her husband, Bill Coyle of DeWitt, Iowa; stepson, David and his wife, Cheryl Ervin of Centerville, Iowa; step daughters, Sandra and her husband, Mike Cardwell, Mary Ellen Exline and her special friend, Doug Strawhacker, Nancy and her husband, Ron Heald, and Carletta and her husband, Jeff Dixon all of Centerville, Iowa; brother, William and his wife, Barbara Thompson of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several step great grandchildren.A Funeral Service will be held at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the Pastor Brian Hargrave and Pastor Robert Pick officiating on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 7:30 PM with visitation earlier that day from 1 PM till 8 PM with the family present from 6PM till time of service. Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Davenport, Iowa with the Rev.
