Wayne and I loved hanging out together when my folks came to town to visit Grandma and Grandpa Shinn. We loved climbing up on the shed out back of their house and picking the blackberries? Grandma always gave us a pan to fill up so she could make pies with the berries. Course we had to be careful not to eat too many so grandma had plenty for her pies.
He was so much fun to be with and we got along with each other don't remember ever having an argument. We were pals and enjoyed harassing our cousins then disappearing to the roof of a shed where we could see them but they couldn't see us. We followed grandpa around his orchard and grabbed apples for grandma 😉 and for us to eat. Grandpa would run us out of orchard when he was ready to collect the honey. Said he didn't want us getting stung. That's when we retreated to the sheds.
I got married and moved to Kansas with my husband. I wrote Wayne trying to keep in touch but guess we got busy with our lives and kinda faded on our letters. He never liked writing stuff. Some of my best childhood memories was being with Wayne at family gatherings and hearing the news of his family after he got married. I quit getting answers because he was busy with his family and then I got busy with mine and it slacked off on my end as well.
I will always remember the times we spent together telling each other about our adventures with our friends and dreaming up something new to pull on our cousins or Aunt Inez. We always tried to make her laugh. 😆. Good memories to reminisce of . I was 🥲sad to know he is gone now. I lost my husband last April . So two of my favorite guys to have fun with are waiting on the other side. Thanks for being such a good cousin. I will hold those memories in my heart for the rest of my life. 😍
