Wayne Rissler's Obituary
Wayne Rissler, age 87, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Fredrick and Mae (Chapman) Rissler on April 3, 1921 in Confidence, Iowa. He graduated from the Corydon Community Schools in 1939.Wayne served his country during WW11 with the United States Navy. On March 29, 1941, Wayne was united in marriage to Emogene Head in Bethany, Missouri. He worked for several Oil and Natural Gas Companies before moving back to Confidence where he began farming and had an Ag Lime Business for many years. He enjoyed music and liked to sing in Barbershop groups and Gospel Quartets. He was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church in Confidence, Iowa, Farm Bureau, and American Legion Post #68 in Corydon and also the Disabled American Veterans in Ottumwa, Iowa.He was preceded in death by: his parents; son-in-laws, Jack Garvey and Donald Hemme on June 25, 2007.Wayne is survived by: his wife, Emogene Rissler of Centerville, Iowa; daughter, Patricia Hemme of Creston, Iowa; sister, Marie Houston of Boardwalk, New Jersey; grandsons, Nick Garvey, Todd and Shane Trautvetter; and ten great grandchildren.Funeral services are set for, 1 pm on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Bill Iammatteo-code officiating. Burial will follow at the Confidence Cemetery near Confidence, Iowa with full military honors given by the Corydon American Legion Post 68.Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either the New Providence Baptist Church or to the American Legion in Corydon, Iowa and can be left at the funeral home.
