Wayne Thomas Demry's Obituary
Wayne Thomas Demry, age 81, of Unionville, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Jesse and Susie (VanDeVenter) Demry on February 28, 1923 near Lemons, Missouri. He received his education in rural schools in both Putnam County in Missouri and Wayne County in Iowa.Wayne was first united in marriage to Hazel Donald on February 6, 1943 in Unionville, Missouri, they were later divorced, and then on April 5, 1985, he was united in marriage to Lois Davis in Lancaster, Missouri. Wayne served his country during WWII in the US Army. He was a truck driver, hauled oil for Skelly Oil Company and farmed. He was the Head of Maintenance for the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, Missouri for over 26 years. He was also an Auctioneer and loved to camp.He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Charlie Demry on February 7, 1999; brothers, Dwight and Gerald Demry; and sister, Mildred Cronin.Wayne is survived by: his wife, Lois Demry of Unionville, Missouri; daughters, Judy Tometich and her husband, Frank of Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara Hixenbaugh-Alexander and her husband, Rick of Unionville, Iowa, Jeanette Hornaday and her husband, Gene of Pollock, Missouri; son, Tom Demry and his wife, Janet of Centerville, Iowa; step-daughters, Denise Cowan and her husband, Ed of Unionville, Missouri, Lisa Brown and her husband, Roger of Kirksville, Missouri and Shelley Davis of Omaha, Nebraska; step-son, Donnie Davis of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Juanita McNair of Moravia, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Linda Demry of Centerville, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 10:30 am at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial with full military honors by Seymour Veterans.
