Vivian Andrews' Obituary
Vivian Andrews 89, of rural Moravia, Iowa passed away at home on Sunday March 23, 2014.
Vivian Irene Hoffman was born May 29, 1924 in Moravia, Iowa to Laura (Newman) and Robert Hoffman. She graduated from Moravia High in 1941. She was united in marriage to Arthur (Andy) Andrews on December 2, 1956 in Kirksville, Missouri.
The Andrews made their home and farm along what is now Appanoose County Highway J3T. Together they raised sheep, poultry and cattle. For decades she hatched, dressed and sold fat hens. Vivian enjoyed raising Hereford cattle well into her retirement years. Vivian kept a well groomed lawn, fruit trees and vegetable garden. She was involved in her neighborhood club and known for planning and organizing many reunions for the class of '41. Over the years, many young men worked, alongside the Andrews as farmhands. Vivian had an enduring, positive influence upon the youth, working under her guidance. She was an excellent cook, collected recipes and delighted in fixing a favorite meal or treat for anyone at her kitchen table. She was thought of as a second mother, additional grandmother and great grandmother by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and seven brothers. She is survived and will be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 2-6 PM at the Moravia Community Center,114 E, Chariton St, Moravia, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Section of the Moravia Public Library and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 103 N. John St., Moravia, Iowa 52571.
