Virginia Sales' Obituary
Virginia Ree (Brown) Sales was born on May 7, 1920 at home on a farm west of Genoa, Iowa, to parents, Eula (McCabe) and Emmett Brown. She was joined three years later by her brother, Richard Brown. Virginia attended and finished 8th grade from a country school in Genoa. She then finished her high school career at Seymour High School in 1938. Here is where she met the love of her life, Wyllard Sales. They were married July 30, 1938 in Wapello, Iowa. Wyllard and Virginia returned home to Seymour and purchased their farm east of town in March of 1940. Virginia continued to live on that very farm until 2016, when she moved to Homestead Assisted Living. In 2018, she chose to move again, and spent the remainder of her life being cared for at Corydon Specialty Care where she was loved by many. Virginia was an avid lover of all thing's flowers and gardening, as she and her family always had an abundant garden. She was also a huge fan of Hawkeye basketball and the Days of Our Lives (her stories). Virginia had four children: Larry (Judy) Sales, Donald (Terry) Sales, Richard (Kathy) Sales and Sheryel (Dale) Sheets. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Dale (Susan) Sales, Dan (Dorine) Sales, Teresa (Tim) Chafa, Nicole Sales, Cyndee (Bill) Knight, Chad (Lennie) Sheets, Todd (Angela) Sales, and Kelly Johnston. She was additionally blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren: [Dale] Cailyn Sales; [Dan] Ashley Whisler & Ryan (Bailey) Sales; [Nicole] Olivia Robinson, Ava & Kenyon Sales; [Teresa] Madison Chafa; [Cyndee] Anthony, Grace & Gavin Knight; [Chad] Brady (Jasmine) Sheets, Brock Sheets; [Todd] Hannah Sales, Caden, Peyton, & Izabella; [Kelly] Kinzey Johnston. Three great- great-grandchildren round out the Sales family: [Ashley] Charlotte & Maxton Whisler, and [Ryan] Toryn Sales. She was proud to also be an aunt and a great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by many of her family and friends including her parents, parents-in-law, husband, Wyllard and brother, Richard (wife, Norma). Her memory will live on forever in the minds of all she encountered. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2 pm.
