Virginia Jellison's Obituary
Virginia Ann (Clark) Jellison passed away Sunday, March 22, at Corydon Specialty Care, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Virginia was born on April 11, 1940 to Archie & Elva (Hull) Clark in Seymour, Iowa, the seventh of eight daughters. She attended Seymour schools, graduating with Seymour High School Class of 1958. On September 5, 1958, Virginia was united in marriage to Donald Jellison at the home of a local magistrate while As the World Turns played on the television. This union produced seven children which kept her busy as a housewife, overseeing the children and logging countless hours cooking meals and baking goodies for all to enjoy. When she wasn't in the kitchen, she could often be found enjoying a good story, be that in a book or on TV, or tending her houseplants while singing along to country songs playing on the radio. She had a particular fondness for Patsy Cline and was known for lulling babies to sleep to the tune of Walking After Midnight and Seven Lonely Days. For many she will be best remembered for those songs, her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and the stash of Atomic brownies she shared with her grandchildren. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Donnie Jellison (Rhonda), sisters Sarah Snook, Helen Clark, Dorothy Collins, Betty Engle, Mary Lou Casey, Linda White, and brothers Edwin and Elmer Clark. Left to remember Virginia are her children Debra Summers, Michael Jellison (Mona), Lisa Warren (Justin), Michelle Fortune (Daniel), Robert Jellison, and Nicole Shipp, sister Donna Dutton, 17 grandchildren Neina Jellison, Mike Foster, Frank Foster (Kat), Alaina Gray (Cory), Joel Jellison (Shelby), Danielle Miller (Matt), Holly Cawthorn (San), Jared Warren (Jen), Samantha Young (Jerel), Kyle Jellison, Gabrielle Schwenker (Aaron), Kristyn DeVore (Turner), Travis Jellison (Shelby), Whitney Mehrhoff (Johnathan), and Colton and Skyler Shipp, and Sydney Jellison, and 38 great-grandchildren.
