Virginia Gregory's Obituary
Virginia Gregory, 90 of Centerville passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. Virginia was born to Henry & Elise (Grevemberg) Abell on March 23, 1927 in Houston, Texas. She received her education from St. Ann School and St. Agnes Academy in Houston, graduating in 1945. Throughout her career, she worked in real estate as an office manager in the hotel industry and for Civil Service at Fort Wolters in Texas, retiring in 1987. Virginia enjoyed playing cards, fishing and visiting with friends and strangers. She also enjoyed visiting with friends in nursing homes and helping her church prepare funeral dinners. Virginia loved her daughter Nell's dog, calling Lisie her 4-legged grandchild. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, and was also active in AL-NON and volunteer for Respite Care. Survivors include her daughter, Nell Gates, as well as many nieces & nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Charles & Armand Abell. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 pm. A vigil service will take place at 6:30 pm. Memorials may be directed to Golden Age Care Center Activities Fund and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
