Virginia Glee Gaylord's Obituary
Virginia Glee Gaylord, 84 of Corydon, passed away on September 23, 2021 at Corydon Specialty Care.
Virginia was born on July 7, 1937 to Earl and Olive (Rogers) Nickell in Lineville, Iowa. She graduated from Corydon High School with the class of 1955 and worked as a Nurses Aid at a nursing home for many years. She married Roger Gaylord, and to this union, two children were born, Steve and Joy.
If Virginia wasn't working to complete a crossword puzzle, you could find her reading her Bible. She loved singing gospel music and worked for a time at the nursery at the Seymour Baptist Church. Virginia enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She found joy in watching the birds and pretty flowers.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Joy Powers (Glenn Eagle); grandchildren Joni Johnson (Jeared), David Croak (Hope), and Zachary Croak, and 7 great-grandchildren; sister Sharon Anderson, brother Raymond Nickell (LaVonne), as well as numerous extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Steve Gaylord, sister Marilyn Gibbs, and niece Rhonda Nickell-Taylor.
Funeral service for Virginia will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Visitation will be 2 hours prior, from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Interment will directly follow service at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. Memorials may be given to the Lecompte Memorial Library in Corydon, Iowa and condolences can be shared at www.thomasfh.com or www.facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
