Violet Ruth Schmell's Obituary
Violet R Schmell, age 93, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Walter and Rosa (Dixon) Copelan on September 8, 1921 in Payson, Illinois. She graduated from High School in Illinois.On May 23, 1973, Violet was united in marriage to Richard 'Dick' Glascock in Unionville, Missouri, and later on June 23, 2001, she was united in marriage to Lee Schmell in Centerville, Iowa. She worked at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville from 1964 until 1984 as a Ward Clerk. She attended the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husbands, Richard 'Dick' Glascock on August 20, 1996 and Lee Schmell on June 29, 2007; a grandson, Nicky Dulaney; brothers, Dale and Earl Copelan; sisters, Florence Dobbins, Vera Settles and Eileen Tanner.Violet is survived by: her sons, Richard Dulaney of Centerville, Iowa and Kenneth Lindley and his wife, Sara of Blakesburg, Iowa; daughter, Barbara Tool and her husband, Dennis of Praire City, Iowa; step-sons, John Lindley of Centerville, Iowa and Ernest Schmell of Seymour, Iowa; step-daughters, Shirley Post of Des Moines, Iowa, Melinda Shanahan of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Cheryl Weidmann of West Des Moines, Iowa and Flora Roberts of Pleasantville, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.Memorials can be made to either HCI Care Services or 'Team Iowa Missions' and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
