Violet Ann Richardson's Obituary
Violet Ann Richardson, 95, of Clio, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Violet was born to Joseph & Martha (Fattig) McFarland on April 20, 1922 in Lucas, Iowa. During her high school years, she was welcomed into the home of Will and Mary Marolf and stayed with their family until she left to get married. Violet was united in marriage to Karl Richardson on June 22, 1940. Violet was a homemaker; raising her children was her life's work. Besides raising their own children, Karl and Violet were nurturing to other family members and also very loving to their children's spouses. She was a member of Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking, quilting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three children: Carolyn Jane Lockwood of Stapleton, NE, Jerry William and Sonya Jo Richardson of Clio, Kenny Richardson and Rita of Mesa, AZ, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren and a sister Minnie Ethel French of Cheyenne, WY. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl, daughter Shirley Smith, siblings; Frances Maynard, Christine Toops, Martha McGee, Johnny McFarland, Eldon McFarland and an infant sister Darlene. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Rev. Leroy Perkins officiating. Interment will be in Clio Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
