Violet Nickel's Obituary
Violet G. Nickel, daughter of Lawrence and Cora Green, was born on May 26, 1920, in Clinton Township, Wayne County. She departed her life on December 7, 2011, at the Corydon Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 91 years with her loving family by her side. She attended school at various country schools in the Clio area and graduated in 1940 from Powersville, Missouri. After graduation, she moved to Corydon and cared for an invalid. She met and married Wayne Nickel on December 19, 1942. They celebrated 69 loving years of marriage. She worked at the Sheldon West Cream Station for a while. She loved to cook and bake. She sold her baked goods to many people. She baked so much that she went through three different stoves in ten years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Eden Garden Club. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Wayne, children Shirley, Jessie Laubsch, and Loyd and wife Julie, her grandchildren Danilo Laubsch, and Kelsey and Christopher Nickel and two nieces, Janice Chenoweth and family, and Debbie Thatcher. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Cora Green, granddaughter Kasey Lynn, and her brother Loyd Green.
