Vernon Walker's Obituary
Vernon Walker, 66, of Moulton passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Vernon was born in Centerville on April 26, 1947 to Marvin & Carol (Clark) Walker. He received his education from Centerville High School in 1966. Vernon served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was employed by Young Radiator for 26 years and retired when they closed. On September 25, 1993, Vernon was united in marriage to Jana Bassett at his parent's home near Exline. Vernon enjoyed fishing and tinkering with old cars. His Farmall H Tractor and 1947 Willys Jeep were his hobbies. He was always messing around with his tractor and his Jeep. He also enjoyed playing pitch with friends. Vernon and Jana enjoyed their time together driving around the country side looking at the scenery. They raised English-Mastiff puppies for a while. Vernon's heart was taken when his grandkids came in to his life. He enjoyed every minute they spent together. Many friends and family will miss Vernon. Survivors include his wife Jana Bassett-Walker of Moulton, son, Lt. Josh Wilson (Amanda) of Las Vegas, Nevada, two grandsons: Jonah and Eli Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada, mother, Carol Walker of Centerville, sister, Margery Sandy (John) of Centerville and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Walker. Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. J.D. Boatman officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will be at a later date.
