Vernie will be remembered for his big smile and huge heart. A special remembrance for me is when he would bring Kyro to the Clerk's Office on court days to eat cookies. Kyro never touched a cookie until Vernie told him it was ok. He will be missed by many.
Vernie helped my children and I when we needed it most. He went above and beyond when he rescued my children one night, even taking them to Casey's and buying them a pop. He lives on in, not only in my memory, but the memories of my children. It has been said if you want to live forever, write your name in the heart of a child. Vernie will never be forgotten by my family. Thank you Vernie. God speed.
The family and friends of Vernie Brown are in my thoughts and prayers. I first met Deputy Brown when I attended the service for his K-9 partner Cyro. It was obvious what a great man he was by his dedication to his dog, family and community. Those who knew Vernie have been blessed. He will be missed.
Heidi was my best friend and I spent a lot of time over at Marti and Vernie's. He was a gentle giant. But he did try and teach me a few life lessons, I say try cause I wouldn't always listen and he would be yelling at me trying to get through my thick head what I needed to learn, he did it for my own good. I didn't always see it at the time but I definitely learned later on in my life. I always looked for his giant bear hugs, he gave the best hugs. He did love life, he was always happy and had a nice, warm smile on his face. He will forever be in my heart and will be missed forever. Thanks for everything you did for me Vernie.
I rember vernie very well and worked with him at the Derby Station in Seymour. He was a very special person.
I've been away from Wayne County for several years, but I have vivid memories of Vernie playing football at Seymour High School back in the early 70s. He could sure run the ball and it usually took a gang of tacklers to bring him down! I know that many will miss him...
