Vernon Horras' Obituary
Vernon Horras, 85, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Golden Age Care Center. Vernon was born on August 8, 1930 to Walter and Edna (Sieren) Horras in the Clear Creek Community, Keokuk County, Iowa. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1949. He married Janice Kelly in 1958. Vernon was associated with farming all of his life until his health would no longer allow. Vernon was a trader by nature, whether it be cattle, machinery or farms; he enjoyed buying and selling. In his spare time, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Vernon is survived by his wife, Janice Horras, three brothers; Jerry Horras (Pennie) of Fairfield, IA, Charles Horras (Betty) of Ames, IA and Donald Horras (Marguerite) of Ft Lauderdale, FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Betty Kelly, Donna Gilbert and Margaleen Sheets and five brothers; Dennis, Wayne, Earl, Herbert and Walter Horras Jr. Funeral Service for Vernon will be held on Wednesday, December 16, at 11:00 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville, IA with Fr Bill Hubmann officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, at the Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville from 5-7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. Interment will be at Friends Cemetery in Richland, Iowa.
