Verna Lucile Long's Obituary
Verna Lucile Long, age 99, of Centerville, IA, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at the Centerville Care & Rehab Center in Centerville, IA. She was born the daughter of Ray and Lou (Berry) Fulkerson on November 29, 1904 in Mystic, Iowa. She received her education in the Mystic Community Schools.She was united in marriage on October 30, 1920 to Clell Long. She was a homemaker and the salad maker for many years at the Green Circle Restaurant in Centerville, IA. She was a member of the North Bend Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for 30 years.Surviving family members include: one grandson, Roger Rinehart of Columbus, OH; two granddaughters, Joyce Thornton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Cindy Sherrard of Centerville, Iowa; ten great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Clell Long on May 6, 1967; her daughter, Maxine Rinehart on September 10, 1990; her brother, Lawrence Fulkerson and one great-grandson, James Edward Pettibone.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 2:00 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Conrad Thompson officiating.
