Verlin G. Richardson's Obituary
Verlin ""Curly"" Richardson, age 83 of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at his home.
He was born to Elsworth and Bessie (Grant) Richardson on January 19, 1932 in Floris, Iowa. Verlin graduated from Bloomfield High School. He was later united in marriage to Helen Lamb and to this union, two children were born, Anita and Penni. They were later divorced. Verlin married Margaret Burns in Unionville, Missouri on July 28, 1973.
Verlin was employed with REC (Rural Electric Cooperative) as a lineman for twenty years, eventually achieving the position of lineman superintendant. Subsequently, Verlin began working as a mail contractor in 1969, transporting mail between post offices. He was employed as a mail contractor for several decades, eventually earning the distinguished position as the President of Iowa Star Route Contractors. Verlin and Margaret also spent many dedicated years owning and operating their family business, Rolling R Enterprises, a Carrier truck company located just east of Moravia, Iowa.
He was active for many years in the Moravia Masons, as well as the Shriners. Verlin was also a member of the Dale Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Richardson of Moravia, Iowa; four children, Anita Richardson of Portland Oregon, Penni (John) Briles of Des Moines, Iowa, Charlene Elliott of Moravia, Iowa and Shawn (Jackie) Richardson of Moravia, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nicole Richardson, Samanda Parham, Zane Parham and Alexandra ""Allie"" Parham; and one great granddaughter, Jaicee Parham.
Verlin was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Eddie Richardson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Brushy Church, north of Plano, with Pastor John VanWeelden officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. Memorials have been established to Camp Appanoose and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
