Venetah Pearl Tubaugh's Obituary
Venetah Pearl Tubaugh, age 95, of Moravia, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Venetah was born on March 31, 1929 in rural Confidence, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Clara (McCabe) Andrews. She graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1946. On May 1, 1949, Venetah was united in marriage to Richard Albert Tubaugh at the Nazarene Church in Keokuk with Rev. Warren Byrd officiating. To this union, two children were born, Janiece and Jaren.
Venetah took great pride in raising her children. She was on the Moravia School Board for over 25 years. She was involved in her church for over 40 years, teaching Sunday School, UMW and Cake Bakers at Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, making candy and attending sports activities throughout the years of her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Moreover, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Venetah's memory are her children, Janiece (Bob) Self of Moravia, and Dr. Jaren (Jamie) Tubaugh of Centerville; her grandchildren, Tava (Eric) Hoffman, Kelli (Brad) Morrow, Emily (Andy) DeJong, Dr. Brennen (Lisa) Tubaugh, Pastor Brody (Maddie) Tubaugh, and Molly (Andrew) Felton; her great grandchildren, Keith, Gracie, and Gus Hoffman, Josey and Jason Morrow, Declan, Leah, and Avery DeJong, Bowen, Isla, Anna, Emma and Charlie Tubaugh, Jaren and Teelie Tubaugh, and Bentley, Brantley, and Blake Felton; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Venetah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Tubaugh; and her brothers, Homer (Thelma) Andrews, Harvey (Ruby) Andrews, and Arthur (Vivian) Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moravia with Pastor Brody Tubaugh officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Visitation will take place Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moravia beginning at 1:00PM with the family greeting friends from 3:00PM-5:00PM.
