Treva Alvera Hopkins, age 96, of Unionville, IA, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, IA. She was born the daughter of Sherman and Pearlette (Davis) Porter on November 1, 1906 in Udell, Iowa. She received her education at the Salem School in Rural Appanoose County.Treva was united in marriage to Lester Hopkins on June 13, 1933 at Centerville, Iowa. She was a homemaker.Treva was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Richard Hopkins; two brothers, Fay and Wilbur Porter; four sisters, Opal Swarts, Mae Hedgecock, Bertie Strunk and Goldie Bigalow; grandson, Wade Cormeny and great-granddaughter, Kateland Hopkins.Surviving family members include: her husband Lester Hopkins of Unionville, IA; one daughter, Letha Cormeny and her husband Ronald of Unionville, IA; two sons, Paul Hopkins and his wife, Carolyn of Drakesville, IA and Ralph Hopkins and his wife, Sheilia of Bloomfield, IA; one daughter-in-law, LouZella Hopkins of Ottumwa, IA; one sister, Betty Banks of Glendale, CA; twelve grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 11:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, IA with Rev. Steve Larson officiating.
