Travis Riddick's Obituary
Master Sergeant Travis William Riddick age 40 of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii formerly of Centerville, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Afghanistan.
Travis was born June 26, 1971 in Centerville, Iowa the son of John and Barbara (Buchanan) Riddick. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1990. Travis married Jennifer Cowherd on April 25, 1998 in Orange County, Virginia.
Following in his family's military tradition, Travis enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served his country faithfully for more than twenty years. He currently held the position of Crew Chief with the Marines. Travis was part of the squadron HMH 363 Red Lions, which had the mission of deploying from Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, HI, wielding CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopters to provide heavy -lift capability to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), moving cargo and troops across the battlespace.
As the aviation combat element for the southwestern regional command of NATO's International Security Assistance Force, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) offers air support for coalition forces operating in Helmand and Nimruz provinces.
Travis is survived by his wife Jennifer Cowherd Riddick of Kailua, HI; five sons, BM3 Charles Branch Lovelace of Fort Macon, N.C., twins James Quarles Lovelace and Matthew Ora Lovelace of San Diego, CA, Zachary Cowherd Lovelace of Kailua, HI, and Levi Mikel Riddick of Bloomfield, IA; a daughter Victoria Grace Riddick of Kailua, HI; his parents, John and Barbara Riddick of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two brothers, Troy Riddick of Kokomo, Indiana, and Tim Riddick of Fort Worth, Texas; his grandmother Beverly Buchanan; two aunts, Pam (Richard) Winegarden of Seymour, Indiana and Theresa Samuel of Melrose, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Alice Riddick, and Red Buchanan; an Uncle Tom Riddick; and an Aunt Patricia Clarke
