Tommy R. "Tom" Harris Tommy R. "Tom" Harris passed from this life on August 17, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 55 years, 2 months, and 18 days. Tom was born May 30, 1955 in Corydon, Iowa to his parents, Bobbie Evans and Evagene Hickerson Harris. Tom grew up in the Russell and Millerton areas and graduated from Wayne Community School's class of 1973. He attended York College in York, Nebraska and Indian Hills Community College in Centerville. Tom worked at Fry Company and Deflecta-Shield for many years, also working at Astoria in Chariton, Iowa and Hughes Appliance in Corydon. Most recently he worked for the Clayton family at Clayton Plumbing and Heating.. He loved living in the Millerton area where he grew up and served as the town's mayor and councilman for several years. Tom is survived by his father, Bob Harris and wife Arlene of Knoxville, Iowa, sister Becky Everman and husband Jim of Allerton, Iowa, brother Matt Harris of Hilo, Hawaii and nieces and their families, Mindy and Tim Prunty, Kenton and Kinsey, Katie and Lance Randolph, Colin and Lauren, and Kiley Everman, along with aunts Mary Lou Hickerson of Chariton, Iowa and Anna Mae Blevins of Puyallup, Washington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evagene Harris, grandparents Orval and Marie Harris and Ray and Icle Hickerson, cousin Jerry Hickerson and aunts and uncles, Mildred Hamrick, Ellis Harris, Bill Harris, Wendell Hickerson and Bill Hickerson.
