Tom Cortesio's Obituary
Tom Cortesio, age 76 of Centerville, Iowa passed away October 1, 2008 at Oaknoll Care Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
Tom was born March 16, 1932, the son of Charles and Maggie (Mitchell) Cortesio in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1949 and joined the Service in 1954. Tom served in the Army for two years in which he was a PFC in the motor pool and served a tour of duty in Germany. He married Dolores Cinkovich September 29, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Tom worked for Percy Norris in Centerville as a mechanic. He then worked 38 years for Centerville Body Shop, retiring in 1993. Tom enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Church in Rathbun, Iowa and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa.
Tom is survived by his wife; six children, Dennis (Leanne) Cortesio of Centerville, Iowa, Rita Edmond of Coralville, Iowa, Tom (Deanne) Cortesio of Portland Texas, Phil (Sherrie) Cortesio of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Robert (Rachael) Cortesio of Chariton, Missouri and Paul (Canada) Cortesio of Moore, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Jeremy Cortesio, Kristy Edmond-Lyons, Tanya Edmond, Patrick Edmond, Cassandra Cortesio, Zackary Cortesio, Thomas Cortesio, Claressa Cortesio, Jacob Cortesio, Joseph Cortesio, Joy Cortesio, Joshua Cortesio, Gabrielle Cortesio; one great grandchild, Kiera Lyons; and siblings, Jenny (Don) Martin of Centerville, Iowa, Richard (Katie) Cortesio of Des Moines, Iowa and Ann (Mick) McGuire of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Louis Cortesio, Carmen Cortesio, Charles Cortesio, Mary Cortesio, Rose White, Tony Cortesio, Joe Cortesio, and an infant sibling, Theresa Cortesio.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 6, 2008 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Dennis Schaab officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic. Visitation will be held Sunday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home from 12-8 PM, with the family present from 6-8PM and a Rosary at 8PM.
