TJ O'Neil Swan's Obituary
TJ O'Neil Swan, 34, of Humeston passed away on May 31, 2023. TJ was born on January 19, 1989 to Tom and Sonya Swan in Ottumwa, Iowa. TJ grew up in Promise City and graduated from Seymour High School. He worked as a heavy machinery operator
If you knew TJ you loved him. His vibrant personality shined many places and touched countless people, and now will be passed through his children.
To TJ family was his everything. Being the first grandson, TJ spent countless hours following Poppy around being his right hand man. He enjoyed driving his sister crazy, going to his moms for her cooking, getting advice from his dad, farming, and just visiting family. TJ and his sister shared a bond that was unbreakable. He wore the titles of father, son, grandson, big brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend proudly.
His oldest daughter Lila has his love for sports, and he was so proud watching her play, they're both smart as a whip and she's going to miss his priceless help with her math. She also has his toes but prefers not to talk about that. Lila Sue changed his world and that love will never be lost. Saylor June Bug is her dad through and through. From her year round tan to her belting out tunes like Elvira, TJ will live on. "Old Son" as he called Walker will never get to know TJ like we all did, but between his family and friends stories and memories will be passed on to him. His sweet little winky smile already says my dad is TJ Swan.
From a little kid to an adult he loved fishing, hunting, playing sports, and hanging out with his family and friends. He never knew a stranger, and made friends everywhere he went. His childhood friends were always closest to his heart.
His life although it was way too short, was full and overflowing with people he loved and that loved him back.
TJ is survived by his parents Tom and Sonya Swan; children Lila, Saylor, and Walker Swan; step kids Ryan Hofmann and Jaycee Hampton; fiancé Abbie Abel; sister Hannah (Frank) Wireman; grandparents Marvin and Shirley Swan; nephew Oliver Wireman; ex-wife Amanda Swan; uncle Tim (Tonya) Swan and Aunt Shalita (Bill) Sales; along with many extended family members and friends
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Iris Andeway.
Memorials have been established to the TJ Swan Children Fund and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: TJ Swan Family, 303 East Jefferson Street, PO BOX 294, Corydon, IA 50060. Condolences may be shared online or on our funeral home Facebook page.
