Timothy Ray Brewer's Obituary
Timothy Ray Brewer, age 68, of Centerville, Iowa, drove his final hot rod through the pearly gates on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 1:16 AM.
He was born on August 26, 1952 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Howard and Margaret (Wood) Brewer. Tim graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1970. He furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College, receiving his associates degree. Tim was united in marriage to Deborah Lynn Strickler on December 8, 1973 in Centerville, Iowa. The couple were blessed with two children, Sherri and Jamie.
Simply stated, Tims defining passion in life was cars. He loved anything car related, especially drag racing. Tim also loved collecting guns, an ever-expanding collection over the years.
A known social butterfly, Tim loved being around people and would habitually visit both family and friends every week. He cherished the time he spent with his immediate family, especially his two grandchildren, Jake and Josh. Furthermore, Tim relished the opportunity to spend time with his wife Debbie, including lake rides. He was also a lifelong animal lover and always had a dog by his side. Tim loved his most recent fur baby, Mia.
Left to honor Tims life include his wife, Debbie Brewer (Centerville); daughter, Sherri DeRuiter (Joe Kelso) (Centerville) and daughter, Jamie Brewer (Urbandale); two grandsons, Jake and Josh DeRuiter (Centerville) along with Craig DeRuiter; his Mother, Margaret Mull- (Ottumwa); brother, Howard Brewer-(West Virginia); sister in law, Joyce Brewer (Texas); brother, Glenn Brewer and wife Susan (Texas); brother and sister in law, Harold and Janie Brewer (Batavia); Sister, Lucy Courtney and husband Chuck; Mother in law, Dorothy Thomas (Promise City); Sister in law, Dixie Strickler (Promise City); Sister and brother in law, Dana and Roger Selix (Unionville); and a Brother in law, Russ Strickler of (Centerville); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Howard Brewer; a brother, Theodore Brewer; a sister, Gail Greene; and his father-in-law, Francis Strickler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Tim Waits officiating. Burial will follow in the Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville. A visitation will take place on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM. A memorial has been established to the Brewer Family, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
