THELMA PIDCOCK's Obituary
Thelma Juanita Bettis Pidcock passed away at the age of 97 years and 6 months at the Wayne County Hospital. Thelma, daughter of Miles and Maggie (Kint) Bettis, was born May 3, 1913 in Wayne County, Iowa. She had one younger sister Coy Couchman (Irvin). She attended country school through the 8th grade and finished high school at Allerton where she graduated in 1932. She went to business school in Chililciothe, Missouri. Later she taught country school and worked at various businesses in Corydon. On April 28, 1940 she was united in marriage to Donald Elbert Pidcock. Two children completed this home, Donald Ray and Doris Kay. She was a member of the Methodist Church, U.M.W. Circle, a member of the State Archeology Society and she and "Pid" received the Keyes-Orr Award in 1992. Thelma was well known as the Pot Holder and Lap Robe maker. She made 11, 300 potholders and about 200 lap robes. Many of them were given to nursing homes and hospitals. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and sister Coy and son Don. She is survived by her husband Donald "Pid" Pidcock, daughter Doris Moore and two grandchildren Christine Moore (Chad Crosby) and Thelma Kay Moore, great grandchildren Shayle, Kelsey, Zayden, Lacey, Jennifer, Kennedi, and Bryli, and several nieces. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Memorials can be given to the Corydon Methodist Church and American Home Finding Orphanage in Ottumwa, Iowa.
