Thelma Hoover's Obituary
Thelma E. Hoover age 99, of Westminster Colorado, formally of Centerville, Iowa, for the first 89 years of her life, died January 31, 2010 at Covenant Village in Westminster, Colorado. She was born the daughter of James and Jessie (Hughes) Douglas on January 15, 1911 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville Community School in Centerville, Iowa.On December 21, 1932 she was united in marriage to Dewey Hoover in Centerville, Iowa. Thelma was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, and also a member of the Eastern Star, and Farm Bureau.Thelma is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Dewey Hoover on September 9, 1971; son, Edward Hoover; brothers, James and Clifford Douglas; and sister, Opal Wise.She is survived by; daughter, Reta and her husband, Sebastian 'Sub' Ruma of Lakewood, Colorado; grandchildren, Mary Ruma-Smith, James and his wife, Danette Ruma, Nancy and her husband, Robert Fowler, Janet and her husband, Kent Moore, Julie and her husband, Butch Gephart, Lisa and her husband, Mark Postma, and Scott and his wife, Melissa Hoover; and eight great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am till time of service with the family.A memorial has been established to Oakland Cemetery and can me mailed to or left at the funeral home.
