Terry Lynal Barber's Obituary
Terry Lynal Barber, 70 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Terry was born to Max and Marjorie (Cornett) Barber in Centerville, Iowa on June 3, 1952. Terry graduated from Centerville High School in 1970 and earned his A.A degree from Indian Hills Community College. Terry was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After serving six years in the United States Air Force, Terry returned to Centerville, Iowa.
Terry married Shirley Purvis in 1972 in Centerville, Iowa. They had two children; Angelina Barber of Long Beach, Mississippi and Terry Max Barber of Greeley, Colorado. They were divorced 1984. Terry married Sharon Long and later they too were divorced. Terry met Monica Blizek in 1995 and they were married in 2015, only later to divorce in in 2021.
Terry started Barber Construction in Centerville, Iowa. He worked several years with his brother Mike Barber, until he retired in 2019. Terry left his mark on many homes in the area and was respected for his building and electrical skills. Terry's favorite job however, was being "Papa Terry". He enjoyed traveling to visit his grandchildren and the History channel. Terry loved spending time with family and friends.
Terry is survived by his father Max Barber (Matilda); brother Mike Barber (Emily): stepsister Carol Ann Arduser (Ed); stepbrother Sonny Walker (Trish); son Terry Max Barber; daughter Angelina Barber; stepson Mason Blizek (Mindi); stepson Matt Blizek; stepdaughter Amy Brown (James); several nephews and nieces; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Barber and sister Dayna VanDorn.
A visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville on Wednesday July 20, 2022 from 5 - 8:00 PM with a time of sharing memories at 7:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
