William 'Ted' Theodore Evans, 79 of Numa passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 at his home in Numa. Ted was born on March 8, 1929 to Orin & Helen (Schmeichert) Evans in Lancaster, Missouri. He received his education from Lancaster High School in 1948. Ted married Joanne Anderson on September 11, 1954. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1993. He would later marry Velma Atkinson on June 28, 2003. Ted was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the 7th Recon, 7th Division Infantry during the Korean War. Ted was a member of Numa American Legion Post #726, VFW Post #526, Cincinnati Masonic Lodge #504, AMVETS and Centerville Eagles Aerie #2675. He enjoyed entertaining people, farming, playing pool, playing cards and time spent with his family. Ted is survived by his wife Velma Evans of Numa, three children; Steve Sprouse (Marlene) of Ottumwa, Rock Evans (Colette) of Centerville, Robin Wilson (Rob) of Yuma, AZ; three step-sons, Tim McClain of Promise City, Mark McClain (Kathy) of Promise City, Richard McClain (Diane) of Unionville, MO; six grandchildren, Beau Sprouse (Darcie) of Des Moines, Dusty Evans of Bondurant, Kelly Evans of Cedar Rapids, Mitch Evans (Amanda) of Newell, Iowa, Ashley Wilson of Yuma, AZ, Alec Wilson of Yuma, AZ, six step-grandchildren; Nathan McClain of Princeton, MO., Dalton Sloan of Seymour, Paul McClain of Seymour, Wayde McClain of Promise City, Trenton McClain of Unionville, MO., Sydney McClain of Unionville, MO. and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Joanne Evans, a son Jeff Evans and a brother DeWayne Evans. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October, 23, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Allen officiating. Visitation will be all day Wednesday with the family present from 5-8 p.m.. A private family interment will be held at Numa Cemetery.
