T. La Velle Clarke's Obituary
Thelma La Velle Clarke, age 95 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville, IA. She was born January 31, 1915, in Centerville, IA to Nellie Rae (Correll) and Richard M. Thompson. She married Leonard Clarke on May 12, 1935 in Rock Island, IL. She is survived by two daughters Mary Ellen (Lawrence) Schmitz or Kirkville, IA, and Jean Clarke-Ayers (Steve) of Centerville, IA, and one son, Jim Clarke of Sedona AZ; Grandchildren Jason Clarke of Hillsboro, OR, Cassandra Clarke of Riverside, CA and Robin Arredondo of Sedona, AZ and great grandson Tyler Arredondo of Sedona, AZ. La Velle and Leonard owned and operated Clarke Coal Co. La Velle was an Avon representative. She was a 1933 graduate of Centerville High School; a member of the girls basketball team to state tournament three years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard; brother Richard R. Thompson, and sisters Dorothy Thompson, Tessie Mae Thompson and Virginia Horne. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Ken Mehrhoff officiating. A visitation will be held Friday at Lange Funeral with the family present from 6-8 PM. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Drake Avenue Christian Church or the staff at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
