Susie Rae Sager, 80, Seymour, Iowa died Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Seymour Care Center, Seymour, Iowa. She was born June 21, 1930 on a farm west of Seymour, Iowa. She was the oldest daughter of Calvin Sylvester (Bill) and Edna Olive Litsey Darrah. She married Dean Smith Sager on May 19, 1951 in Seymour, Iowa. Surviving are sons: John Calvin and wife, Vicki Sue, Seymour, Iowa and Thomas Edwin and wife, Sharon Kay of Flippin, Arkansas. Also surviving are two sisters Joann Kay and husband LaVern Inman, Bernard, Missouri and Ida Jane and husband Leland Ellison, St. Joseph, Missouri, grandchildren Jessica Sue Sager, Seymour, Iowa, Andrew Dean Sager, Crystal, Minnesota, Jennifer Rae Moore and husband Jeremy, Centerville, Iowa, Janet Rosella Sager and Javier Ruiz both of Donna, Texas and Jill Marie Payne and husband T. J., Memphis, Missouri, and great grandchildren Hailey Rae and Lily Anna Moore, Centerville, Iowa, John Calvin Ruiz, Donna, Texas and Lucas John Payne, Memphis, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and half brother Charles Junior Matheson. After attending country school she graduated from Seymour High School in 1948 and then earn a teaching certificate from Kirksville Teachers College. She taught at Brush College Country School for two years before marrying Dean. After Dean left for overseas military service, she temporarily resided in Greensburg, Kansas with her parents. Once returning to Seymour in 1953, Dean and Susie raised their two sons while farming. Susie next worked at Neeley's for 24 years before retiring to the family farm. She spent the rest of her years living in the house built by her great-grandfather. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #180 and the Rebekah's Lodge. Susie accept the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age.
