Steven Lyle Moore Obituary's Obituary
Steven Lyle Moore was born September 20, 1950, at the Yocum Hospital in Chariton, Iowa, to Darrell Loyd Moore and Margaret Irene (Cobb) Moore. He passed away at the age of 61 on June 5, 2012, after losing his battle with cancer. Steve attended grade school in Allerton and Lineville where he met a lot of lifelong friends. He graduated from Wayne Community High School in 1968. After high school, Steve enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and was a member for 6 years. Steve married Jean Shriver in 1971 and to this union two children were born, Brian Eugene and Sondra Kay. In 1985 he married Betty Hart and to this union two children were born, Christopher James and Lindsey Rochelle. Steve enjoyed being a farmer and was well known for being a hard worker. He and hired man and longtime friend Max Tuttle spent many hours working with Steve's cattle, sheep and goats. Steve especially enjoyed calving and lambing season and watching the new babies grow. Steve lived and worked on the same farm for 44 years. Steve enjoyed being a grandpa. He loved to watch the grandkids ballgames. He was always interested in their 4-H projects and loved watching them show their livestock at the county fair. If anyone was ever looking for Steve around noon, they could usually find him in the local Allerton diner catching up on the community news with friends. Steve also attended many community and church fundraisers hoping to purchase a pie, most often gooseberry. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents Oscar and Ola Cobb, Loyd and Floye Moore, uncles Lewis Cobb, Clem Bettis, Jerry Moore, John Moore and Maurice Cobb, aunts Wilma Cobb and La Mere Bettis and cousin Jerald Syferd. He is survived by his parents Darrell and Irene Moore of Allerton, children Brian and wife Lisa Moore, Sondra Wilson and Terry Rollins all of Corydon, Chris Moore and Sara Danner, and Lindsey Moore all of Allerton, loving companion Lisa Holt and children Makenzie and Kari Holt of Corydon, grandchildren Trent and Blake Moore, Trevor Wilson and Jasmine Rew all of Corydon, brother Clell and wife Lee Ann Moore of Allerton, a nephew, nieces, aunts, uncles, and many more family and friends.
