Steve Knorr's Obituary
Stephen Jon Knorr, 65, of Centerville, passed away quietly and peacefully early Friday morning on October 16, 2015, at his home with his family present.
He was born December 21, 1949, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville to George A. Knorr and Kathryn (Buban) Knorr Houser. Steve was raised in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 1968, and from Centerville Community College, now Indian Hills Community College, in 1970.
He was united in marriage to Cathie Lynne Gladfelder on October 1, 1976, at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville. Steve and Cathie have two sons, Evan J. Knorr and Joel G. Knorr, both of Centerville.
Steve was employed with Crescent Electric, first at the Centerville store, and then when it closed he transferred to the Ottumwa Crescent Electric store in fall 1998. He retired after 35 years of service in April 2012.
Steve served in the Iowa National Guard for seven years and was involved in numerous local organizations. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and also the Elks Club for several years. Elks Club members will recall hearing him recite the 11th Hour toast many times at various functions. After his sons joined Cub Scouts, he served as den leader and a Tiger Cub organizer for many years with Pack #32.
He loved muscle cars, motorcycles, and doing anything mechanical. He liked figuring things out and preferred fixing them himself. His greatest hobby and love was in the field of electronics a
