Stephen "Steve" Theodore Miller's Obituary
Stephen "Steve" Theodore Miller, age 75, of Centerville, Iowa passed away on April 18, 2025 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Steve was born on July 21, 1949 to Genevieve Miller (Troutman) and Ray Miller. He graduated from Ottumwa High School. Along the way Steve met Mary Lou Morse, and together they raised two daughters, Rachel and Melissa. Steve served our nation with the Unites States Navy for many years before being honorably discharged. Following his time in the service, Steve worked at Bemis for several years before becoming the tech support employee at Centerville High School, from where he retired.
Throughout life, Steve had many hobbies, including puzzles and reading, but especially Model Railroading Trains, he had a great collection of them. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and gardening, he loved being outside in nature. He was also very involved in the Trains, Planes, and Automobiles event that happens every year in Centerville. You could find him driving his putt putt car with a big smile on his face. He also enjoyed decorating for Christmas, the house would be lit up in all sorts of beautiful colors. His home was his pride.
Steve is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Rachel Miller and Melissa Miller (Dylan Jones); grandchildren, Xylah Craig and Miles Jones; Brothers, Ron Miller and Mike Miller; along with his niece, nephew, Lisa Brumfield and Keith Miller, extended family, and friends, and the many foster children he cared for throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12PM Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Centerville Faith Church. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM - 12:00PM at the Centerville Faith Church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Melissa Miller to be determined at a later date and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Miller Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
