Stella Sophia Rowe's Obituary
Stella Sophie Rowe, age 93, of Centerville, IA, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, IA. She was born the daughter of John D. and Kathryn (Koziol) Shulski in Mystic, Iowa on April 21, 1910. She graduated from the Mystic High School in 1928.She was united in marriage in 1937 to Lester Blankenburg. He passed away in 1968. She married Robert Rowe on November 11, 1970 in Michigan. Robert passed away on November 28, 1993. Stella worked as a seamstress for 10 years and as a teacher's aide in Michigan. She was employed at the Universal Button Factory in Detroit, Michigan for 22 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a quilter for the Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary in Centerville, IA.Stella is survived by: her step-son, Robert Rowe and his wife, Marilyn of Troy, MI; one sister, Louise Wakefield of Centerville, IA; nephew, Richard Wakefield and his wife, Marianne of Centerville, IA and two nieces, Carole Patterson and her husband, Carl of Omaha, NE and Betty Haver of Moravia, IA.She was preceded in death by: her parents; first husband, Lester Blankenburg; second husband, Robert Rowe and two brothers, John Shulski and William 'Eliga' Shulski.Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 10:00 am at the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, IA with Father Joe Miller C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service. The body has been cremated.Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2003 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, IA.
