Stanley Marcus Sager's Obituary
Stanley Marcus Sager (Mark) of Osage Beach, Missouri was born on October 12, 1941 in Seymour, Iowa. He was the seventh of eight children born to Ernest Elvin and Esther Opal Darrah Sager. He departed this life at the Windsor Heights Care Center in Camdenton, Missouri on December 14, 2021 at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 2 days.
Mark graduated from Seymour High School in May 1960. After graduation Mark was recruited into the United States Army by his brother Larry in June 1960 and served until June 1963. Mark worked for multiple utility companies in Iowa (Bettendorf), Missouri (Independence), and Kansas (Kansas City). He was a member of the Mason and Shriner organizations.
Mark was united in marriage to Shirley Dean Jones on April 3, 1967 in Seymour, Iowa. They had two sons, Bart Todd and Heath Boyd. The boys were named after Green Bay Packer football players.
After retirement, Mark and Shirley moved to San Antonio, Texas to be near their kids and grandchildren.
Mark never missed coming to Seymour on Memorial weekend to meet his childhood buddies Walt Harley, Gene Cox, and Marion Zemo. Mark also loved watching sports on TV especially the Green Bay Packers, spending time with his grandchildren, and catching up with friends and family on the phone.
Mark is survived by his sister Jan Thomas, his son Bart and Michelle, grandsons Bret, Ethan, Steven, and Michael, great-grandson William (Wild Bill); his son Heath, granddaughters Alyssa and Jesse Dean, great-grandson's Bentley and Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death are his wife Shirley, his brother-in law Robert Thomas, his six siblings and their spouses; William Henry "Bill" (Donna), Elza Elvin "Zeke" (LuEtta), Norman Eudean "Popeye" (Betty), Kenneth Marion "Jack" (Loraine), Larry Vernon "Simp" (DiAnne), Julia Kay Sullivan "Judy" (Charles); Niece Pamela Feltner; Nephews Dean Sager, Aaron Sager, Christian Brock, Joseph Sullivan, and Timothy Sullivan.
Mr. Sager has been cremated, a celebration of his life will take place on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will follow directly at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Seymour School Alumni Association in memoriam of Stanley Marcus Sager. Donations can be mailed to Lisa Carter, 325 S. 6th St., Seymour, Iowa 52590. The Alumni Association provides a college scholarship to a Seymour Graduate each year.
