Stanley J. "Mac" McDaniel's Obituary
Stanley J. 'Mac' McDaniel, age 73, of Melrose, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Corydon Nursing & Rehab Center in Corydon, Iowa. He was born the son of Willis and Josephine (McCully) McDaniel on March 8, 1934 in Melrose. He received his education at the Pleasant Hill Country School and at Centerville Community Schools.On March 9, 1951, Mac enlisted in the US Army for service in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on March 10, 1954. Then on June 3, 1961, Mac was united in marriage to Betty Stroup in Evansdale, Iowa. He worked for many years as a Logger and a Timber Buy in the Ringold County area in Iowa and was a member of the American Legion in Corydon, Iowa.Mac was preceded in death by: his parents and a brother, Dwight McDaniel.He is survived by: his wife, Betty McDaniel of Melrose, Iowa; sons, Stanley W. McDaniel of Melrose and James D. McDaniel of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter, Wilma Jane McDaniel and her husband, Randy Vanderflught of Kellerton, Iowa; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Wila Dean Johnson of Lynchfield, Minnesota.Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the Rev. Jerry Morrison officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Millageville Cemetery near Lake Rathbun. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday December 31, 2007 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present.Memorials can be made in his name and left at the funeral home.
