Solana Iley Anne Husted's Obituary
Solana Iley Anne Husted, precious daughter of Malcolm and Breanna (Duffey) Husted, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 39 days.
Solana's story began on May 6, 2026, arriving after 34 weeks in her mommy's belly. She entered the world on a day already filled with family celebration, sharing her birthday with her daddy and her aunt. She weighed 5 pounds, 11.2 ounces and measured 18 inches long.
Her name was chosen with great love and meaning. Solana, meaning "sunshine" in Spanish, proved to be the perfect name for a little girl who brightened every room and every heart she touched. Iley was chosen simply because her mom loved the name, and Anne honored a cherished family legacy, remembering Breanna's late great-grandmother, Breanna's grandmother, Malcolm's late great-grandmother, and Breanna's sister.
Though her time on earth was brief, Solana's life was filled with extraordinary strength. She spent much of her young life in the hospital, bravely fighting through every challenge with a determination that inspired all who cared for her. She was feisty from the very beginning of her life and she let her nurses know it. Her greatest wish seemed to be coming home to be with her family, and when she finally did, she filled their day with love, cuddles, and sweet moments that will be treasured forever.
Solana loved bath time, being close to her mommy and smiling at her sister Aj. From her ultrasounds, to her time after birth she always puckered up her lips ready to give kisses. Mom was her favorite pacifier, her favorite place to rest, and her greatest comfort. They loved cuddling chest to chest and practicing tummy time. She could often be found cuddled safely in loving arms, cooing and searching for her mommy's embrace. Though her journey was short, Solana's life was filled with love. Her daddy worked each day dreaming of the moment he could bring his sunshine home, while her mommy made trip after trip to hold her close and shower her with love. Every cuddle, every touch, and every moment was cherished. In every way, she was her family's little ray of sunshine.
While her loved ones longed for more time, God had different plans. Though Solana's journey on earth lasted only 39 days, the impact of her life will endure for a lifetime. She taught those around her about courage, unconditional love, faith, and the preciousness of every moment. Though the sunshine they held in their arms is now shining in Heaven, Solana's light will never fade. She will forever be remembered, forever be loved, and forever remain her family's sweet little sunny girl.
Solana leaves behind her heartbroken but grateful parents who loved her beyond measure, Malcolm and Bre Husted; her siblings, Andreanna Parker, Harper Davis, Lloyd Davis, and Mia Davis; her maternal grandparents, Mary and David Duffey; her paternal grandparents, Rebecca and Danny Scott; her great grandmothers, Bonnie Rhoades and Elizabeth Tucker; her aunts and uncles, Iesha Husted, Quentin Duffey, Shaylee Duffey, Taylnn O'Hair, and Daveynn Duffey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members; and all who were blessed to witness her beautiful fight.
Solana was preceded in death by her uncle, Sebastian Husted; her great-great grandparents, Mary Anne and Robert Sharp; her great-great grandmother, Mary Anne Ousley; and her cousin, Tristan Husted.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in honor of Solana may be made to Breanna and Malcolm Husted, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Husted Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
