Sidney Wayne Hornback's Obituary
Sidney Wayne Hornback, 75, of Plano, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024 on a sunny afternoon with his devoted wife by his side.
He was born on December 14, 1948, in Sikeston, Missouri to Sidney F. Hornback and Virginia G. Lynch.
Wayne and Pennie (Wagner) Hornback were united in marriage on May 14th 1990 and their life together was an adventure of a lifetime.
He loved to listen to old country music. Wayne's favorite artist was Merle Haggard. He also loved to go fishing. Wayne lived only 3 miles from Lake Rathbun which was great. He also enjoyed watching the wildlife on his property like deer, rabbits, pheasants, and birds, while drinking his favorite morning coffee.
Wayne worked as an over the road truck driver for many years. He loved his jobs at Moravia Trucking and Rick Fenton Trucking of Centerville, IA. Wayne loved talking to people and never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Wayne was also a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country in the Army.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Pennie Wagner Hornback; daughters, Bobby Carey and Sabrina Bellows; sons, Sidney Wayne Hornback Jr. and Erick Hornback; extended children, Jamie Wallace, Mindy Murphy, Holly Jackson, James Hippen and Melissa Lancaster; grandchildren, great grandchildren; and sisters, Rita Wright and Shirley Birk.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia G. Lynch; father, Sidney F. Hornback; brothers, Gary Hornback, Jerry Hornback, Harry Hornback, Marty Hornback, Rex Hornback, Joe Hornback, Donald Hornback, and James Hornback; sisters, Patsy Poucher, Betty Edwards and Francis Hornback.
Wayne absolutely adored and loved all his children so much. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandpa.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, August 9, 2024 at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Paster Ryan McLouth officiating.
