Shirly E. Fowler's Obituary
Shirley ""Ed Clem"" Fowler, age 71 of Cincinnati, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Ed was born March 26, 1937, the son of Guy and Jennie Mae (Johnson) Fowler in Cincinnati, Iowa. He spent most of his life residing in the Cincinnati area. Ed worked for McGraw Edison Manufacturing in Centerville. Most of his working career came in the transportation field. Ed had a passion for truck driving. He was a lifelong truck driver, where he drove both locally and over the road. In his later working years, Ed was employed with Swan Rock Quarry.
While he enjoyed many hobbies, Ed's favorite pastime was gambling. He enjoyed many trips to Osceola with his family and friends. Ed will be missed by the lives he touched throughout his lifetime. His family will forever cherish the times that they were able to spend with him. Many friends, especially Pat Swann, Jackie Starr, and Tom and Lisa Dorsey, will forever be remembered for the care that they provided for Ed in the latter years of his life. But most of all, Ed will be missed by the love of his life, his dog Skippy.
Ed is survived by six children, Penny (Larry) Butcher of Centerville, Cindy Conner of Albia, Iowa, Tina (Carl) Agan of Altoona, Iowa, Ed Fowler and his significant other Sandy Wakefield of Cincinnati, Iowa, Barb (Rod) Leib of Corydon, Iowa, and Michelle (Jeremy) Dooley of Promise City, Iowa; twenty one grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister Elaine (Chuck) Evans of Harvey, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Laverne Fowler, Leo Fowler, and Robert Fowler; a grandson Brandon Leib; and a granddaughter Virginia Kelly. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, January 2, 2008 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Zoar Cemetery near Exline, Iowa. A visitation will be held Thursday at Lange funeral home with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
