Shirley Grace Singley's Obituary
Shirley Grace Singley, age 93, of Moulton, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Shirley was born on April 4, 1930, the daughter of William Edwin and Eva (Swarts) Piatt. She graduated from Moulton High School with the Class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Robert Lincoln Singley on January 16, 1949 at the Drake Avenue Christian Church Parsonage. To this union, two children were born, Shelley and Robbie.
Shirley worked at Spurgeon's Clothing store on the Centerville square for a period of time. Later, she worked at the Moulton Locker. She was always a busy farm wife, and was the bookkeeper for the family farm for many years.
In her free time, Shirley enjoyed genealogy, sewing, quilting, canning, playing Bridge with the Bridge Club, and gardening-especially her flowers. She was also a 50 year member of the PEO.
Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her husband, Robert Singley; her daughter, Shelley (Richard) Burger; her daughter-in-law, Kay Singley; grandchildren, Tim (Megan) Burger, Andrea (Jeff) DeWeese, Heather (J.T.) Murphy, and Rachel Singley and friend, Dr. Andrew Bellizzi, M.D.; 13 great grandchildren; her siblings, Donna Young, Terry (Judy) Piatt, Larry (Cheryl) Piatt, and Connie White; as well as several extended family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Eva Piatt; her son, Robbie Singley; an infant brother, Timothy Piatt; and two sisters, Sharon Harris and Dorla Horn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM, Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Moulton Christian Church in Moulton with Brian Hargrave officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will take place Friday, November 24, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville beginning at 1:00PM with the family greeting friends from 4:00-6:00PM.
