Shirley Closser Obituary's Obituary
Shirley Closser, 74 of Drakesville passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Bloomfield Care Center. Shirley was born January 29, 1938 to Kenneth and Jesse(Bushnell) Weller in Jerseyville, Illinois. She received her education from Jerseyville High School graduating in 1956. Shirley married Sam Closser on September 8, 1956. She enjoyed cooking, reading, playing with her dogs and 'Donk', her donkey. Shirley spent the majority of her life in food service. She owned and operated Drakesville Dairy Barn for 20 years and then owned and operated Lake Wapello Restaurant. Shirley is survived by her husband, Sam Closser of Drakesville, two children; Brenda Closser of Rochester, MN, Samuel Joseph Closser(Donna) of Drakesville, three grandchildren; Lincoln Closser of Drakesville, Adrian and Leah Muehe of Drakesville, a brother Kenneth Weller(Betty) of Jerseyville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church in Bloomfield with Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa. Condolences and video may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
