Shirley Exline's Obituary
Shirley Exline, age 48, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
She was born on June 20, 1963 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Laura (Proffitt) Ashby. Shirley was originally from Centerville but later moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa. While residing in Fort Dodge, she met David Brass. Shirley and David have spent several wonderful years together as a couple.
Shirley worked in the restaurant business for many years. She worked for several different restaurants, with her duties ranging from simple labor chores to dishwashing.
She had a passion for fishing. Shirley also enjoyed collecting coins, playing computer games, and joking with friends whenever she had the chance. But most importantly, Shirley loved her grandchildren. In fact, family members are quoted as saying that her grandchildren ""were her life.""
Shirley is survived by her significant other David Brass of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three children, Tonya (Scott) McDonald of Kenyon, Minnesota, Andy Exline and significant other Tina Sterling of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Samantha Exline and significant other Kevin Dillon of Iowa Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; four sisters, Sharla Ashby and significant other Troy Olmstead of Geneva, Iowa, Shelly Cramer of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Shelia (David) McGuire of Webster City, Iowa, and Trisha (Tim) Lindsay of West Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her mother Laura Ashby; a sister Shari Exline; and her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-2 PM. Memorials have been established to family of Shirley Exline and may be left at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville.
